Wasting Time And Resources: The Sad State Of Today’s Health Care Discussions

The more one pays attention to what goes on, in Washington, D.C., the more concerning, it often is! Shouldn’t there, come a time, when our elected representatives, start focusing on viable, relevant solutions, rather than merely reverting to the lazy and irresponsible behavior, of blaming, complaining, and playing – politics? Evaluating our present political climate, it becomes abundantly clear and obvious, nearly nothing, of consequence, has taken place and occurred, in the United States Congress! While there should be many pressing issues, addressed, an enormous amount of time, money and resources, has been exerted, on political ramifications, rather than beginning a much – needed, discussion on the nation’s health needs, employment challenges, energy/ environment/ climate considerations, and improving international relations. While the deteriorating state of foreign affairs (e.g. North Korea, China, Russia, Iran, etc), the numerous natural disasters (at a record – setting pace), the increasing amount of extremist views and perceptions, and seeming, stalemate, on nearly everything, should concern, all of us, this article, will discuss the shame (and impact) of wasting our resources (human, financial, and time – related), on blaming anc complaining, as it relates to the very important discussion, we should be having, on today’s health care needs, and challenges.

1. President Trump, and Health and Human Resources Secretary, Dr. Tom Price: We must never overlook, the fact, most of us, follow the example, of those in positions of leadership, and President Donald Trump, has fixated on sound – bytes, and rhetoric, rather than introducing any relevant solutions, and/ or ideas! When the President, articulates, he will sign any health care legislation, which crosses his desk, and says, Anything is better than Obamacare, while seeming to lack the insight, knowledge, and/ or attention, to the details, and ramifications, how can we expect, responsible, relevant, well – consideration, changes? Common sense should dictate improving the Affordable Care Act, as opposed to the politically motivated, articulated ideology, referred to, as, Repeal and Replace! Health and Human Services Secretary, Price, has stated his opposition to the existing law, and has apparently decided, with apparent consultation with Trump, to do all he can, to sabotage and weaken the law of the land! Wake up America, don’t we deserve better?

2. How many times will Congress introduce legislation, for Repeal and Replace, which is worse, than what exists? When will they realize, these partisan efforts, either at present, or when the opposition party, was dominant, is unsustainable? These short – term political strategies, do not serve the best interests of our citizens, and/ or nation, tending to polarize, and pit the haves, versus the have – nots! Isn’t it time, they worked together, in a bipartisan manner, to fix what’s wrong, help more people (rather than taking away insurance/ coverage, from millions), and heal, rather than make empty, irresponsible promises, and misstatements?

3. Other distractions: Without getting into the advantages, and/ or disadvantages, related to what Senator Bernie Sanders, refers to, as, Medicare For All, the reality, for better, or worse, is, in today’s political climate, this has no chance of being enacted, as proposed! Wouldn’t the time be better spent, and citizens, best – served, if the focus was, presently, fixing what is wrong, and making it work, first? After a stable system was in place, more revolutionary, evolutionary approaches, can be discussed, evaluated, and the advantages and ramifications, including effectiveness, costs, utilization, etc, can be discussed, in a well – considered manner!

Stand up, and demand, your Representatives begin to place people, over party politics, and do what’s needed, etc! When will we all, Wake Up America?
